Infant mortality continues to be a significant problem in Washtenaw County. Among the leading causes of infant deaths: unsafe infant sleep practices and abusive head trauma (also known as Shaken Baby Syndrome).

The WACC Safe Sleep Initiative educates expectant parents, caregivers, and community members on how to mitigate the risk factors that cause sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and Shaken Baby Syndrome to eliminate infant deaths in Washtenaw County. Pregnant people, parents, grandparents, and caregivers of infants can all benefit from our programs.
