Body Safety Training
Personal safety for ages 3-7
Body Safety Training (BST) is an evidence-based program designed to teach personal safety to children ages 3-7. BST covers general safety principles (fire, gun, car, street, and stranger safety) in ten short lessons. It also teaches children how to recognize, respond to, and report inappropriate sexual behavior directed toward them.
-
10 Evidence-based lessons
Nearly 1/4 of victims of child sexual abuse are under 5 years old. Body Safety Training (BST) trains and empowers young children with knowledge and strategies so they can play a role in helping to keep their bodies safe.
-
What to do in an emergency
Fire. Guns. Cars. Busy streets. Body Safety Training teaches kids how to keep themselves safe in all sorts of situations.
-
Who (not) to trust
It’s stranger-danger, but updated — as some unsafe people are those they might recognize. Body Safety Training teaches children how to recognize, respond to, and report inappropriate behavior directed towards them.
-
Abuse prevention
By teaching children about their bodies (e.g., identifying “private parts” and using proper terminology), and that they are the boss of their bodies, and how to recognize and respond to inappropriate behavior, we can prevent sexual abuse.
